Intro to Disaster Recovery Plans (DRP)

A Disaster Recovery Plan (DRP) is a documented process or set of procedures to recover and protect a business IT infrastructure in the event of a disaster. Such a plan, ordinarily documented in written form, specifies procedures an organization is to follow in the event of a disaster.

Site backups and Malware Scanners are paramount in any DRP. Website scanners alert you in real time so that you can restore the most recent backup. After the site is restored, get to work on updating passwords and look for vulnerabilities in your site’s software.

Having a DRP in place ahead of time can drastically reduce website downtime caused from the compromise and in many ways preserve the site’s online reputation. Online reputation can become jeopardized if Google, Spamhaus and other major online Block Lists add your domain to their lists of compromised sites.
